Position: QB College: Indiana
NFL Team Landing Spots: Raiders, Jets, Browns
Fernando Mendoza enters the 2026 NFL Draft as the clear QB1 and the current favorite to be the first player selected. Fresh off a Heisman-winning season and a national championship run at Indiana, Mendoza offers the kind of polished pocket profile NFL teams still covet: size, poise, accuracy, and command from the pocket. Recent evaluations consistently describe him as the top quarterback in the class, with elite ball placement, especially on back-shoulder and anticipatory throws.
The Las Vegas Raiders are the most likely landing spot for Mendoza. With the New York Jets or the Cleveland Browns also in the mix for the draft. The Raiders would be the best fit for a productive fantasy year. Giving Mendoza great targets like Brock Bowers, Jalen Nailor, Tre Tucker, and a top RB with Ashton Jeanty. The only other QB on the current roster is Aidan O’Connell, giving Mendoza the starting job from day 1. Add in a new Raiders coach with Klint Kubiak coming over from the Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks, and he has a great coach, too. It’s really all about a great situation if he lands with the Raiders.

Elite ball placement (especially back-shoulder throws)
Advanced processing + full-field reads
Anticipation → throws receivers open consistently
Poised under pressure, championship pedigree
High completion % / efficiency profile
Arm strength is good, not elite
Limited off-script playmaking
Minimal rushing upside (fantasy cap)
High-floor franchise QB with elite accuracy and processing. System-dependent ceiling, but safest QB in the class with immediate starter potential, but lacks the rushing upside for star fantasy players.
